Question
i was wondering if you guys knew how to recreate music instead of remixing.you know like make the music sound more up to date.for example like what Sanjeev Kohli did to Madan Mohan's music for Veer-Zaara05 Oct 2006 04:23

so what was it really?
I still havent understood what that was all about.. that veer zaara thing
it most defintely wasnt anywhere close to madan mohans calibre of music... the arrangement etc
it sounded really like the new generic switzerland music thrown at us relentlessly these days...
plus u used the term remix loosely.
The 2 don songs were not remixes, they were cover versions or recreations. Ehsaan already has a thread on that..
I still do not understand why the medival punditz version is called a remix.. ehsaan can you clarify what was their role on that track?

Remixes etc
hi jay thanks for clarfiying the whole ' remix ' thing !!! well the punditz are friends of farhans and they made this track as their contribution to the spirit of don !! its been used generously in the background score of don.05 Oct 2006 05:28

veer zaara
about veer-zaara:

Madan Mohan had a reason for not using those tunes when he was alive. Sanjeev didnt do his dad's music and legacy any justice by turning those informal recordings into songs. He and Chopras did it for publicity. They wanted to get into the madan mohan lovers market. Cheap gimmicks, I tell you.

Poor MadanMohan. From up above, he must be wishing he had destroyed those tunes before leaving here!

cool. tnx for the clarifction
so the Remix label on the CD cover was again a misnomer. I was utterly confused because thier version varied fully in content and structure. I actually liked that track a lot, especially because it is essentially a dance version of the orginal Kalyanji Anandji theme music, and maintains almost the same structure.

Coming to Veer Zaara, sorry if i sounded a little rude on my previous post. I was really pissed off when that album was released, after all the pre release madan mohan hype, it was almost an insult to his legacy in my opinion. I was not fuming on your post or question itself.

Veer-Zaara
Well, I agree about Veer-Zaara. Its music was brilliant. Especially the composition, lyrics and rendition of "Main Yahaan Hoon..." Udit Narayan was mind-blowing in it.07 Oct 2006 01:59
